Funny Conversation

*Student name has been changed

Me:  Jimmy*, I have reminded you several times today to stop talking and stop making noise.  Why do I hear you now?

Jimmy:  But Miss Howard!  I tooted and had to say excuse me!

It has been a long time since I have updated.   Life is plugging along at a fairly "normal" clip.  The school year is busy, but so far a good one.

Really the purpose of this post is to share an amazing story with you.  I admit, I do not know these people, but their story and testimony has been such a HUGE encouragement to me.  I learned of their story through someone at church who knows Tricia's sister.  I'm not one to link to different sites, but I would strongly recommend this site to anyone.  Their faith through a fight with CF and a premature child is just fantastic.  I have been so encouraged.  Amazing how someone you hear of through the internet can be such an encouragement.  What a mighty God we serve!

God's doing some really neat things!

This last weekend I had the opportunity to go to the Lamoka annual meeting....I'm sure you are thinking "yeah, so?"  or "How exciting"....  Actually, it was very exciting.  Of course, God is always at work, we don't question this (well not often anyway...).  The board members decided to bring up the idea of a building project.  Naturally, they were thinking that the idea would bring much opposition and "discussion".  They were not bringing it up for a motion, but rather a "this is what we are thinking about and would really like to see happen in the future - but aren't asking for a commitment now" kinda thing.  They were proposing looking into building a large gymnasium type enclosed building as phase 1 for a 4 phase project. Much research had been done to secure an appropriate cost for the building. After just a few minutes of discussion, excitement grew and everyone in attendance jumped on the idea. It was even suggested that we put into motion a plan as to how the funds might be raise or promised to the camp.  I can't remember the specific ways that it was all broken down, but the idea was - if 30 churches in the association would have 4 families give $10 a week for the next three years (or 4 different families per year or whatever....) phase 1 would be paid in full in the matter of three years.  How exciting would that be!  A letter will soon be sent to everyone on the mailing list with the details all lined out.  It is so exciting to think that within the next year or two there would be a great place for the campers to get out of the rain, a safe place that is out of the dining hall/kitchen's way.  For this reason, I wish that I had an abundance of money to contribute.  I guess I'm just super excited to see how God is going to work all this out over the next couple of years.

If only it were this easy

The third grade girls have taken time to draw up "contracts" (their words not mine).  These contracts state that they boys will serve them, doing everything and anything the girls tell them to do.  They will answer to every beck and call and be available whenever the girls feel they need the boys.  The boys will be paid $1 a dollar a week (this isn't in the contract only verbal agreement and I don't think they've thought about where they will get that money).  The crazy thing?  The second and third grade boys are FLOCKING to sign this stupid thing and think its the best thing ever.  Yeah, if only life was that easy!
